Astratto

Un uomo di 86 anni precedentemente asintomatico ha ricevuto la prima dose del vaccino BNT162b2 mRNA COVID-19. Morì 4 settimane dopo per insufficienza renale e respiratoria acuta. Sebbene non presentasse alcun sintomo specifico del COVID-19, è risultato positivo al SARS-CoV-2 prima di morire. Il legame con l’antigene della proteina Spike (S1) ha mostrato livelli significativi per l’immunoglobulina (Ig) G, mentre il nucleocapside IgG/IgM non è stato suscitato. La broncopolmonite acuta e l’insufficienza tubulare sono state assegnate come causa di morte all’autopsia; tuttavia, non abbiamo osservato alcuna caratteristica morfologica caratteristica di COVID-19. La mappatura molecolare post mortem mediante reazione a catena della polimerasi in tempo reale ha rivelato valori soglia del ciclo SARS-CoV-2 rilevanti in tutti gli organi esaminati (orofaringe, mucosa olfattiva, trachea, polmoni, cuore, rene e cervello) ad eccezione del fegato e del bulbo olfattivo.
