Una ricerca apparsa nel Clinical microbiology and infection ha scoperto che una grave infezione da COVID-19, associata ad un alto tasso di mortalità, potrebbe svilupparsi in una minoranza di individui completamente vaccinati con più comorbidità. I nostri pazienti avevano un più alto tasso di comorbilità e immunosoppressione rispetto a individui ricoverati in ospedale non vaccinati precedentemente segnalati con COVID-19. Un ulteriore caratterizzazione di questa popolazione vulnerabile può aiutare a sviluppare linee guida per aumentare la loro protezione, sia mediante il distanziamento sociale continuato, sia mediante ulteriori vaccinazioni attive o passive.
